Term 1 2025 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As Term 1 concludes, we reflect on a vibrant and productive start to the academic year, marked by numerous events and initiatives that have enriched our school community.

We warmly welcomed new families, fostering strong partnerships to support our students' learning and growth. The introduction of a generalised parent permission for intercampus bus travel streamlined student movement between campuses, enhancing accessibility for various activities.

In response to family feedback, we will trial Interim Report Nights in Terms 1 and 3, aiming to provide timely academic progress updates. The Year 7 Welcome BBQ in Week 3 was a resounding success, offering families the chance to connect with teachers and the leadership team, despite earlier weather-related postponements.

Our commitment to student well-being was evident during the extreme heat days, where we implemented our Extreme Heat Policy, ensuring students remained hydrated and protected from the sun. The importance of regular attendance was emphasised, highlighting its critical role in academic success.

The Annual College Athletics Carnival showcased school spirit and healthy competition, with students proudly representing their house colours. Additionally, the Year 7 and 8 camp to Phillip Island was announced, promising opportunities for personal growth and camaraderie.

Technological integration continued with the BYOD laptop program, ensuring students have the necessary tools for modern learning. The introduction of Consent Education across all year levels underscored our dedication to fostering respectful relationships and informed decision-making.

Extracurricular activities flourished, with the continuation of the Junior Concert Band and various interschool sports, including lawn bowls, volleyball, futsal, and swimming trials. The Open Mic event at the West Campus highlighted our students' creativity and confidence.

An attendance initiative was introduced to recognise and reward consistent student presence, reinforcing the link between attendance and academic achievement. Celebrations such as Harmony Day and Pi Day brought the community together, celebrating diversity and academic enthusiasm.

As we look ahead, Term 2 promises a range of events and incursions to further support student learning. A gentle reminder that the first week comprises only three school days, facilitating an easy return to the academic routine. We commence with Morrisby interviews for our Year 9 students, aiding in their career planning and development. Additionally, the Year 12 City Experience Camp in Week 5 is highly anticipated, with payments accepted during the school holidays. For any concerns, please reach out via email.

Wishing everyone a restful and safe holiday period. We look forward to another enriching term ahead.

Warm regards,

Jodie Parsons

Co-College Principal
